Trip at a glance
I spent 12 nights at Kombat Group in Pattaya for Western boxing. I trained twice a day, morning and evening, and added extra personal training. The package I booked included Gold accommodation and all meals; the camp arranged my airport pick-up.
Why I booked a boxing camp
I wanted a trip with a proper focus, so I booked the Western boxing package with Gold accommodation. Having a room and meals sorted around the training made it easy to settle in and get on with it.
My routine was simple: train in the morning, recover and eat, then head back for an evening session. I added personal training on top. It was a lot of boxing, exactly what I wanted for those 12 nights.
The people were a big part of the stay too. I enjoyed meeting other travellers, and found Thai people welcoming. I went for boxing, but there was plenty to see and do outside the gym.

More than Western boxing
I booked boxing, but Kombat Group’s current course list is much broader. It includes Muay Thai, MMA, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, fitness, self-defence, weight-loss and instructor courses. Check the current course list for availability, and see the Western boxing package I chose. Courses and package details can change.
Getting there from Dublin
I flew Qatar Airways from Dublin to Doha, then on to Bangkok. Kombat Group arranged a taxi to collect me from the airport, which took the hassle out of the final leg after a long flight.

Jomtien Beach and the huge food market
I headed to Jomtien Beach, where there was a massive food market along the beach area. I filmed the stalls and food stands; it was a brilliant change of pace from the gym and an easy place to find something to eat.

The tiger moment
I also visited a tiger attraction not far from where I was staying. And yes—I went inside a cage with an adult tiger. I was a brave boy 😂 It is still one of the stories that makes me laugh when I look back at the trip.
I still remember how surreal it felt to be that close to a full-grown tiger. The photo brings back the day perfectly.
My honest verdict
I loved the trip. Two daily boxing sessions gave the 12 nights a real purpose, the extra personal training let me do more, and the meals and Gold accommodation were part of the package I booked. I came home with memories of good people, a welcoming place, Jomtien’s food market and—somehow—a tiger-cage story.
It suited what I wanted at the time: a focused training stay with space to explore Thailand around it. I do less boxing these days, but I would still recommend the experience to someone wanting to combine a proper training routine with a trip abroad.
