Tom is a working dad of two from Ireland who built Further From Home after years of planning family holidays around real-world budgets. He visits the places covered in our first-hand guides, records what the family paid and writes down what genuinely worked—and what did not.

Why Further From Home exists
Most holiday searches begin by asking for a destination. We turn that around. Tell us your budget, departure point, dates and travellers, and we help show how far that money could take you.
We are building the travel tool we wanted ourselves: useful for ordinary families, clear about estimates and honest when something is not yet live.

Our editorial method
How we build a first-hand guide
We take the trip
First-hand guides are based on journeys we genuinely made, using our own notes and original photographs.
We record the reality
We include the dates, group size, costs we paid, good decisions and mistakes another family can learn from.
We check before publishing
Names, links, practical details and booking routes are reviewed. Each guide shows when the trip happened and when links and prices were last checked.
We keep it accountable
When something changes or a reader spots an error, we review it and update the guide rather than quietly leaving old advice in place.
