First-hand family guide · Orlando 2025

Two weeks in Orlando with two children

Fourteen nights, connecting Delta flights, a handy International Drive base and enough theme parks to make Epic Universe our new family favourite.

This is our own family trip, not a copied destination roundup. We travelled as two adults and two children from 21 July to 4 August 2025, stayed close to the parks and learned what we would change next time.

How we travelled from Dublin

Outbound, we flew Dublin to Boston and then Boston to Orlando International Airport. Coming home, we flew Orlando to Atlanta and then Atlanta to Dublin. All four flights were with Delta Air Lines.

Our International Drive base

We stayed at Avanti Palms Resort and Conference Center on International Drive. For a park-heavy holiday, its location was very handy: we were based in Orlando’s main visitor area rather than far from the action.

It worked as a practical base, although next time we would compare the full cost and freedom of our own villa and a hire car.

We packed in the parks

We did the Disney and Universal parks we had planned, with SeaWorld the one major park we did not get to. It was the kind of big family holiday where every photograph brings back a different moment.

Our family favourite

Universal Epic Universe—especially SUPER NINTENDO WORLD—was the standout park for us.

Among a holiday full of famous parks and characters, Epic Universe is the one we would put at the top of our family list.

What we would change next time

Hire a carFor a fortnight spread across Orlando, we would value moving on our own timetable.
Price a villaWe would compare a private villa against another resort stay, including transport on both sides.
Make room for SeaWorldIt was the big park left off this trip, so it goes onto the next plan.

Our honest verdict

Orlando was a huge family holiday and two weeks let us cover a lot. International Drive worked as a convenient base, the children collected unforgettable character moments, and Epic Universe with SUPER NINTENDO WORLD gave the trip its biggest surprise.
